Out of hours flooring keeps engines turning over.

The development of a new diesel engine meant a need to refurbish the 7,000 square metre production area floors at Honda’s Engine Plant, to create a far cleaner environment than that necessary for petrol engines.

Respol, one of three contractors tendering for the work, won the contract not only because of their 20 year association with Honda, but because they agreed to complete the work entirely on weekends to minimise impact on production. After removing the existing epoxy coated floor and preparing to bare concrete (dust free), the finished system primer EP550 was applied, followed by trowel application of Reeflor EL002SF in grey with blue gangways and yellow lines, one of a number of combinations which had been presented to the team at Honda. The Reefor system is covered by a 10 year performance warranty, which gives indication to its hardwearing characteristics and long term appearance.

With the completion of this latest project, Respol have now laid over 150,000 square metres of flooring for Honda in the UK.
